ATMs at 7-Eleven reaches Davao City with 2,000th ATM installation

7-Eleven ATM is finally in Davao City! BDO and Land Bank transactions at zero transaction fees; P10 fee for other banks still the lowest in the market!

Philippine Seven Corporation (PSC), the exclusive licensor of 7-Eleven in the Philippines, continues to deliver safe and convenient banking wherever you are in the country, 24/7, now with 2,000 7-Eleven stores with ATMs installed.

This marks the entry of ATMs in 7-Eleven in Davao City, made possible by the partnership with Pito AxM Platform, Inc. (PAPI), the local subsidiary of Japan’s Seven Bank, Ltd.

“We started the expansion of our ATM network in the Visayas last June, and we now have over 150 ATMs installed across stores in Cebu City. Now, we are proud to provide ATM coverage in the island of Mindanao, marking our latest milestone in our effort to provide ATM convenience to our communities nationwide,” said Jose Victor Paterno, President and CEO of PSC.

This goes to show that PSC and PAPI’s plan to deploy additional cash-recyclers in over 2,500 7-Eleven stores nationwide by the end of 2022 is right on track and customers can expect more partnerships with other local banks to be announced soon.

In February 2020, PAPI partnered with PSC to install, operate, and maintain ATMs at 7-Eleven stores in the Philippines. As part of its commitment to sustainability, these ATMs are equipped to be cash-recyclers. Each also has a unique feature of adapting the ATM screen interface depending on the customer’s bank for familiarity and ensuring great customer experience.

“The demand for ATM access in the Philippines continues to grow as we have observed during the past few years. We hope to make bank transactions more accessible and practical for Filipinos from different areas, which is why we intended to start our installations in Mindanao before the end of 2022,” said Masanori Sakaguchi, President of PAPI.

“The ATMs offer a pioneering solution to our cash handling requirements.  There is no need to go to the bank to deposit sales for the day, allowing store operators to focus more on serving our customers.  Our deposits then fund the withdrawals of both bank and non-bank clients.  This innovation brings us closer in fulfilling our mission of providing modern convenience in the communities where we are present,” Lawrence De Leon, PSC’s Head of  Finance said.

Cardholders of BDO, the largest bank in the Philippines, and newest partner bank Land Bank, can still enjoy free withdrawals at 7-Eleven stores.  Meanwhile, the P10 fee for other banks remains the lowest charge in the market.

The global benchmarking company, Ookla®, announced that PLDT achieved a speed score of 77.91 and logged the fastest download and upload speeds at 210.83 Mbps and 234.21 Mbps, respectively.

“The past years have proven how essential fast and reliable internet services are for Filipinos to work, study, and be entertained at home. This win reiterates our unwavering commitment to power our customers with the best digital services so that they can progress in life as they do things digitally better at home,” said Jeremiah de la Cruz, PLDT Senior Vice President and Head of Consumer Business – Home.

PLDT Home has been the country’s fastest ISP for five consecutive years and is strongly committed to deliver undisputable speeds to every Filipino household.

“Speedtest Awards, presented by Ookla, are reserved for an elite delegation of network operators that have delivered exceptional internet performance and coverage within a market. It is our pleasure to present PLDT with the award for Fastest Broadband in the Philippines. Home in Fastest Mode with PLDT
PLDT Home, as the country’s leading digital services provider, seeks stay on top of the ever-changing digital shift by continuously delivering the most powerful and fastest fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network to its over 3.1 million fiber subscribers.

In July, PLDT boosted its international network capacity through its US-Transpacific Jupiter cable system infrastructure which is expected to provide greater capacity in multiple Terabits per second. This benefits PLDT customers with growing demands for digital services and better digital experience.

PLDT is also the only telco provider in the Philippines that can deliver up to 10,000 Mbps fiber-optic service. This puts the country alongside first-world nations that have access to such ultra-fast home interne speeds such as South Korea, Japan, Sweden, Norway, Italy, New Zealand, and USA.

All these innovations are powered by PLDT’s widest network with its fiber infrastructure expanded to over 803,000 kilometers, extending its reach to 15.5 million homes passed, and a total fiber capacity of 6.25 million ports.

PLDT is Davao City’s fastest internet provider in 2021 – Ookla®

PLDT Home remains undisputed as the fastest broadband network in Davao City, dominating telco rivals with top upload and download speeds of 70.06 Mbps and 71.50 Mbps respectively, according to the Ookla® Speedtest Awards™ Q3-Q4 2021.

The Ookla® Q3-Q4 2021 data also showed PLDT garnering an overall nationwide speed score of 77.24, which is a huge jump from its speed score of 27.28 in the second half of the previous year. Speed Score is a measure that takes into account both upload and download speeds.

PLDT Home’s speed leadership in Davao City enables it to thrive in economic activities that leverage work-from-home productivity. This includes remote work, virtual schooling, and remote entrepreneurship. As part of its commitment to its subscribers affected by the recent Typhoon Odette, the telco giant has already restored 99% of its fixed line services in Mindanao.

“PLDT is relentless in its mission to provide key Philippine cities like Davao with the fastest and most superior home internet services, to help accelerate their economic success. The increased demand for the fastest broadband in the country remains strong and we’re investing as well in our capabilities to install, upgrade and repair so that our customers in Davao enjoy better digital life with future-ready homes,” says Butch G. Jimenez, Jr., Senior Vice President and Head of PLDT Home Business.

Fastest fixed network win

PLDT’s speed dominance in the country has been consistently recognized by the Ookla® Speedtest Awards™ having swept the fastest broadband award in all the quarters of 2021. To find out the network speed of ISPs, Ookla® compares data gathered from millions of consumer-initiated tests taken on Speedtest® platforms. The data include tests done by Filipino internet users on various networks using digital devices connected via Wi-Fi and fixed networks. Each top carrier accounts for at least 3% of the sample size in the geographic area.

The telco giant’s aggressive network expansion and migration nationwide continue to power its speed upgrades and broadband service improvements.

In the second half of 2021, PLDT Home launched its biggest speed upgrade for customers with thrice as much speeds versus the previous broadband plans. In November 2021, PLDT Home launched the country’s first-ever 10,000 Mbps fiber-optic service in the Philippines, putting the country alongside first-world nations that have access to such ultra-fast home internet speeds such as South Korea, Japan, Sweden, Norway, Italy, New Zealand, and USA.

PLDT Home continues to set the bar for the future of home internet connectivity in the Philippines as it provides

access to future-ready innovations including top-of-the-line Smart Home solutions such as Wifi Mesh devices,

Entertainment and Security services bundled with its flexible broadband plans.

All these innovations are powered by PLDT’s widest network in the country with its fiber infrastructure expanded to

743,700 kilometers, extending its reach to 13.9 million homes passed, and with over 5.77 million fiber-powered ports.

To date, PLDT Home has connected over 3.6 Million subscribers, proving to be the most trusted telco of Filipino

families for fast internet speeds for work at home, online school, and family entertainment at home amid the
